新的SAT最重要的改革是放弃了原有的单纯词汇背诵部分，强化了阅读理解。阅读，阅读，阅读，成为新SAT的重中之重。新SAT考察的阅读内容也和老SAT有所不同。下面是和新SAT相关的阅读书目（有部分额外补充），适用于现行SAT和2016年新SAT的阅读准备。其中第二类History的书单是专门应对新SAT阅读内容的拓展，即与美国历史相关的建国文献。
